Light Quartzite
Quartzites are growing in popularity in the countertop industry - especially those that are lighter in color. Many of these colors are less dense and more porous than other darker Quartzite colors. Due to these natural characteristics, there are some important details that the purchaser and end user need to take note of.
What to expect?
Due to their mineralogical makeup, some quartzites may be prone to staining, oxidation, etching and can show absorption of waters and oils into the stone. Liquids and substances that have both acidic and oily qualities are more susceptible to absorbing into the stone. It does not take excessive force or neglect to stain countertops. They will wear, age and distress with normal and everyday use.
There will be extended lead times in production to prepare and fabricate the stone as there are extra steps that we take in the manufacturing process:
We cut in a wet-environment that is safer for our employees and the environment, however, after the material comes off the saw it is common for moisture to be in the stone. At this point in the process it is normal for our team to allow the material to sit so that it can dry out before we proceed with next steps
Our team applies sealer at multiple stages in the fabrication process in our shop and also in the field - all in an effort to better protect your stone
There is no material/product warranty provided for this product should liquid absorption, staining, etching, discoloration, or damage occur to the stone or for natural characteristics. There is a craftsmanship warranty on the installation and labor. Images of moisture in Light Quartzite colors can be seen at the bottom of this page.
